When to expand baby’s diet and what to choose?

After the age of 6 months, the child’s need for nutrients increases, so the diet should be enriched with products that will provide the child with adequate amounts of energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. In the second half of the child’s year, the need for iron increases significantly and amounts to 11 mg. For this reason, it is important to gradually introduce products rich in heme iron – i.e. meat products, i.e. poultry (chicken, turkey, rabbit) and veal. Fish and meat should be introduced to the child’s diet right after a few days of expanding the diet.
When composing meals (including a dinner for babies), it is best to choose seasonal vegetables and fruits, because they are characterized by the highest nutritional value. If we do not have fresh vegetables at our hand, a very good choice will be to reach for “frozen” food (they retain almost all the nutrients). All vegetables and fruits contain, to a greater or lesser extent, dietary fiber, which prevents constipation, ensures satiety after a meal and regulates the work of the intestines.

Good to know…

Attention! Before you throw the cooked products from the basket in the mixing cup, decide what the final texture of the meal you want to achieve. If you prefer liquid meals, leave the water in the mixing cup (it is also rich in all nutrients). If you prefer a thicker consistency, pour out the water from the mixing cup before mixing.
